Why and How we Reject Happiness
Happiness can be a conundrum and a tough concept to grasp for most. Several people may deprive themselves of happiness because they are convinced they are undeserving of it. Or they may think that if they just had a few more things in life; a nicer car, job, or home that it would completely bridge the gap between themselves and happiness. This is a false notion many people succumb to believe and can be identified as the old saying goes: money can’t buy happiness. We must honestly learn to appreciate the things we already have in front of us even if they may not be as glamorous as we would like. If we get ourselves into this habit, we will truly appreciate the “better” things that will eventually come our way.
We Must Realize…
The sooner we understand that life is bound to be imperfect, the sooner we are a step closer to achieving legitimate happiness. Initially, it’s an odd concept, but accepting this is the first step towards genuine happiness and fulfillment. When we are searching for perfection however, it is a never ending wild goose chase.
Old Habits Can Die Hard, But It Doesn’t Mean They Can Never Die At All!
As we mentioned before, several people may think they can buy happiness and this can be a similar codependency as those filling a void with materialistic objects or those who use any drug. It compensates for something that in actuality requires mental gymnastics, not physical possessions or reliability on substances.
Honestly, Live in the Moment…
There is honestly no time like the present so in order to make a habit, achieving happiness takes practice. This includes taking the time to enjoy the things you already have and being content with where you are NOW.
A Parting Thought…
Bottom line is if we are constantly looking towards the future for what’s better, we won’t be content with what is just as good in the present.
